Scuba Diving

20 pictures that will make you wonder why you’ve never tried Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving

Have you ever tried Scuba Diving? I had never considered it until we were at Iberostar Cozumel for the first time. We went on a snorkeling trip and I was jealous of the divers below us. Funny because Diving had never crossed my mind before that!

After talking to my boyfriend, he also wanted to try it. At Iberostar’s pool, the dive shop offers a try Scuba experience. Basically they suit you up and teach you the basics in the pool. If your resort offers this, try it! What do you have to lose!

The following year we were certified and are obsessed. I will show you why you need to try it!

  1. My husband and I went snorkeling in Belize and saw many scuba divers! We want to try it. How long does it take to get certified? How long does the certification last? I am afraid once we do it, we won’t end up actually diving before the certification expires.

  2. scuba kind of freaks me out BUT I went snorkeling in Maui and saw people doing SNUBA and it intrigued me! Not sure I could go full on… but these pics do make it look amazing. You really can get alot closer to the fish, reefs, etc. Where did you get certified???

    1. It’s teally a lot easier than you think. Our 10 year old will be getting certified this spring and she can not wait! We got our certification in Cozumel. We did all the theory online at home first. All we had to do on vacation was our pool and open water dives. Now I’m hooked!

    2. It doesn’t take long at all. We did our theory online before our trip. It took about a week, maybe an hour or so every day. Then we went to Cozumel and they did our pool and open water dives. That takes 2 days, then we were able to dive the rest of the week.
The certification lasts for life. It never expires. However, some diver shops will require you to do a refresher if it’s been over a year since you dived. Sometimes these are free and sometimes they cost $30-50. You should definitely try it!
